We recently moved from Google to IDrive, and the experience has been so much better! We use IDrive exclusively now to automatically back up customer work in our photography studio. The speed is fast; the files are very easy to link to; and the price is very good. We highly recommend IDrive.
  • Easy to use
  • Automated backups
  • Simply way to share links
  • Add a small icon to hard drive folders that are set for automatic backups.
Is great for auto backups of a business computer hard drive to the cloud.

I use to backup multiple devices in given time intervals to ensure data losses can be mitigated.
  • Automatic backup that runs in the background
  • Restoring to particular points in time
  • No limit on number of devices
  • User interface can be unintuitive
  • Some options are a bit hidden
  • UI looks a bit dated
  • No support for mobile phones

Currently no other online storage offers the price point and the size of storage that meets the needs of my use. With the 5 TB limit for personal use this works great for me. As a new user the interface for windows is easy enough to understand and any troubleshooting is quick thanks to the online support and many tutorials. So far I have not encountered many issues and have found the service reliable and suiting of my needs.
  • Large storage
  • Data Back up services
  • Data Retrieval services
  • Ease of use UI
  • Sometimes glitchy, issues where the file preparation loop gets stuck
The amount of storage for the price point is the main reason to pick this service. Perfect for anyone looking for large storage option in a cloud.

Offsite storage and disaster recovery solution for raw files and databases.
  • Cost of storage versus solutions like Google or CrashPlan
  • Capabilities to capture real time changes
  • Versioning capabilities
  • IDrive client bandwidth throttling does not control upload and is not granular enough to allow proper configuration.
  • IDrive client time elapsed and time estimates do not include days complete or remaining
  • IDrive support responds with canned or automated message not directly related to feedback/requests/concerns.
If your SMB is need of DR solution, IDrive provides a cost effective solution against the competition. IDrive has options such as versioning and real-time backup.

While I would love to use iIDrive Online Backup and Object Storage, I have not been able to do a complete backup since I bought the product. I called tech support multiple times and they finally escalated the issue. It's been a month and despite constant asking for an update, they have done nothing. They just keep telling me that they are working on it. The most important file for me to backup is my Outlook .pst file and it will not work. It's only 4GB. At this point, I have to go elsewhere because I want that file backed up.
  • Small files back up
  • Tech support is available 24/7
  • interface is easy
  • In my experience, If you have a file larger than 4 GB, good luck.
  • I feel that tech support sends canned responses
  • It's my belief that if you have a problem, tech support may never help you
IDrive Online Backup and Object Storage is not useful for me at all. I need a backup system that can actually back up my files. And they have been stringing me along with tech support for weeks. I don't expect to receive a resolution.

We backup to their cloud and local nightly to protect all data. It's a bit slow and clunky but cost effective solution. However our equipment has never gone down so we are unsure how a restore would work.
  • Notifies you daily on backups
  • Customer support is responsive
  • Slow to cloud
This is an individual decision but for small business effectiveness it works.

I use it on my laptop it's great I don't have to think about it at all. It automatically backs up my entire drive and the best part is after the initial backup it only needs to upload changes so it is quick. I would highly recommend that you also use it's local backup feature as well to ensure you data exists in 3 places.
  • Incremental backups
  • Local backup
  • Online storage
  • User friendly
  • Share an online folder like a drop box
  • Offer existing customers the same special deals
  • Allow upload of encrypted backups
Very well suited to having a could copy of you entire laptop so that if you lose it there's no worries. Not so good for use as a drop box it's is difficult to use it in this way. It's useful for cloning drives. Easy to get started, user friendly.

IDrive's software works seamlessly across all my computers and the initial file upload went smoothly. I'd like if I could choose specific files not to sync, but with 5TB of storage, it doesn't really matter--there's room for everything. I used to use a competitor but the software became buggy with the new Mac update. So far, I'm really happy with the switch and plan to be an IDrive customer for a long time.
  • Store files
  • Download files
  • Software
  • Choosing specific files to upload or download (instead of just folders)
IDrive is well suited to back up personal and business files up to 5TB. It's been helpful in making sure all of my documents are constantly backed up without me worrying about it, and it's also been useful having cloud back-ups of various film projects. We have the projects backed up on physical drives as well, but the cloud storage makes us feel extra secure.

We use IDrive for all our offsite backup needs, whether backing up or NAS or individual workstations. It works across network drives and has local application support for Synology and other NAS Operating systems which has been very beneficial from a workflow and efficiency process as we moved our data to a NAS based infrastructure. Instant email updates on scheduled tasks and faultless reliability along with excellent value for money. This provides us with an easily accessible offsite store of our important data, in the case of an emergency or even simple accidental deletes by employees it gives us peace of mind. It means even if all of our infrastructure fails on site, or is stolen or damaged, we still have a copy of our data safe in the cloud.
  • Local backups
  • NAS applications
  • Value for money
  • Reliability
  • Switching from the old platform to the new one has always been an issue, not a problem for new users though I believe.
  • Having to upgrade to a higher tier to get new special offer upgrade deals
  • The interface can be a bit slow sometimes on lower powered NAS devices I've found.
  • If there are two scheduled backups of the same data they will run concurrently and slow each other down in my opinion.
It scales well from the individual to corporate environments with many different plans to suit your needs and budget. For backing up servers such as Exchange or SQL I've used their sister product iBackup, which is also excellent and we have no problems with, so maybe they should merge the two products into one which would make it a better overall proposition. It also seems to handle backing up mapped drives as well, which is what we used for a while before getting the on server version. That being said it can use up quite a bit of bandwidth so make sure you schedule at night when noone is working. However it does only backup changed files which is great.

I use IDrive to back up my files for my work as a writer. I wanted the peace of mind of knowing they would be backed up and stored safely.
  • Back's up my files
  • Completes Scheduled backups
  • Tells you if something has gone wrong
  • Tech support was quick to respond with a comprehensive answer when something wasn't working correctly.
  • It was quite complicated to work out what I needed to back up. It might have been useful to get some advice on this.
  • When I receive advice on what to do when it didn't back up properly - it was a bit complicated for me to understand as a lay person.
It is well suited to people who want their back up handled for them. Perhaps not for someone unfamiliar with IT.

We use iDrive for image backups, and incremental backups, both local and to an encrypted cloud. We do system state backups for our server, and we support 30+ other customers with their iDrive accounts. We've had to restore data in the past due to ransomware attacks, data loss, and employee errors and it has never failed us. With any backup solution, it's integral to verify backup integrity often.
  • Automated Backups
  • Error Reporting
  • Recovery Speed
  • Customer Service (Phone)
  • Email Reporting
  • Backup Failure Explanations
It is best suited for anyone that needs daily data backups. I don't have a lot of confidence in the real-time data backup, only because it is not something that is highlighted in the sales materials or easy to find in the software.

I am a professor of Earth Science and work with large data volumes. I have a server maintained at my university, with RAID-configured duplicate disks, but also wanted an off-site backup of my lab group's data (~15 TB). Specifically, I need a system that would work with the Linux OS (CentOS 7). I have only one server/computer, so am able to use IDrive's Personal plan.
  • Automatic
  • Low cost
  • Linux compatible
  • Sufficient online support
  • Would like a GUI for linux
  • Would be nice if backups could be made more frequently than daily
IDrive Personal was by far the least expensive cloud backup system I could find for data volumes greater than 10 TB. It's also very highly reviewed on other, generic websites.

I have used IDrive for several years on both my business and personal computers at home and office. I use IDrive as insurance against any type of computer hack, failure, incursion or undetected defect. I know my files and docs are safely stored in the Cloud, and if I have any problems or severe threats, I feel IDrive has my back.
  • Super easy to download, setup, set preferences and key account settings.
  • The first back-up took all night, but after that the back-ups are quick, seamless, and always on-time per my preferernces.
  • I love the confirmations and details on each and every back-up start-up and completion. Very informative and reassuring.
  • Very easy to get back anything that I may forgotten to save or replace during the work.
  • Can't think of anything negative at this time! Thank you IDrive!
I don't use IDrive for any back-up on my cell phones, but for my personal laptop and business desktop, I think the service is wonderful, runs behinds the scenes perfectly, does the back-up when and now I want/need it, and then confirms that each and every back-up either was success or for some reason did not complete. But 99.9% of the time the back-up was successful and it lets me know.

We were using another product previously and now we use the BEST cloud backup software available which is iDrive. The setup, setup, backup and restore are super simple to setup compared to others. Not only is the pricing much lower than others but iDrive allows you to backup multiple computers which we really needed. We currently use the companies other software which is Remote Access which is another fantastic product. I HIGHLY recommend this excellent product as it has snapshots and versioning Google Workspace Back and Microsoft Office 365 Backup which the others do not have. You will not be able to get another online backup like this anywhere for the price!
  • Backup and Restore is super simple
  • Continuous Data Protection
  • True Archiving
  • Microsoft Office 365 Backup
  • Display information in a graph environment
iDrive is well suited for the individual user up to an Enterprise environment and does it extremely well.

As a computer science research group at a university, we rely heavily on large datasets and custom software tools for our work. Losing any of this due to hardware failure or accidental deletion would be disastrous, setting our research back by months or years. To protect against this, we use IDrive to comprehensively back up all of our systems.
  • System-image backup of all computers in our lab. This protects us from hardware failures, ransomware, or accidental system changes.
  • Linux support
  • User interface even on the command-line scripts provided.
  • A GUI for Linux would be welcome.
IDrive provides continuous backup of our most critical research data and software, including source code, experimental results, and pre-trained AI models. We have over 5TB of research data stored across our lab's systems that is backed up nightly to IDrive servers. The incremental backup approach only uploads changed bits, making the process efficient.

We also rely on IDrive for system-image backup of all computers in our lab. This protects us from hardware failures, ransomware, or accidental system changes. With IDrive, we can restore an entire system back to a previous known good state in minutes if needed.

IDrive is used to backup all personal devices for a single user securing their data. This includes Windows, Linux, Android and iOS devices. Besides, IDrive Cloud is used to synchronize the personal documents and photos between all desktop devices. Besides, the IDrive Cloud makes these files available on mobile devices as well.
  • Apps for multiple platforms: at least Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.
  • Lots of storage for a low price
  • Elaborate FAQ on their website
  • Centralized management of backups for all devices in the web interface
  • User Interface feels slow (both the app and web dashboard)
  • A lower tier Personal plan would be welcome
  • No Paypal payment
IDrive did not work on one of my Linux machines, but it did work perfectly on all other platforms.
IDrive is perfectly suited for someone who wants one solution to backup all their devices across different operating systems. Other solutions typically support less operating systems, so you would need to purchase multiple backup programs. Besides, IDrive combines the backup software with cloud storage for files and synchronization between devices, a feature that not many backup services offer. The amount of storage you get for your money is also very competitive (at the moment of writing). Therefore, IDrive is perfect for a personal user with many (different) devices.

On the other hand, I am not sure if IDrive offers automated install and script support for managing backups. I reckon this would be vital for larger organizations that have many machines. Perhaps those should consider a more specialized backup solution geared towards their specific needs. Still, they should definitely consider IDrive.

I am using the 10TB yearly personal plan. My main use of the IDrive service is data backup and syncing across multiple computers. Although the backup process could be made faster, the subscription plan is absolutely worth the value for all the features it provides. In my work, I usually deal with TBs of data and I need the data stored forever. It has many tools to manage scheduling and error handling. It uses 256-bit encryption which is relatively secure, and it gives the user the option to have their own encryption as well.
  • Its desktop application has a lot of handy tools accessible.
  • Provides a lot of storage.
  • Data archiving seems to be quite good.
  • Making the backup process a bit faster especially when dealing with a large number of files.
It's very useful for storing large amounts of data and when the user only needs to access the data from time to time rather than real-time access. The tools available in its desktop application are intuitive and easy to use.

As a webmaster and website developer, I backup a huge file of websites in our servers and client servers. IDrive helps me to store along with automatically backing up my device on their cloud servers for security purposes. Apart from being a webmaster, I am also a video editor and content creator. Editing videos for my own content plus for clients really does impacted my overall device storage capacity. I recently just upgraded my local device to 6TB of storage. Having IDrive as my local device companion backup server as I have 10TB subscription with them, really did helped me a lot. Thanks to IDrive! Not only cheap but most importantly, reliable. The support as well are very responsive. I have nothing negative to say to be honest
  • Data Backup
  • Cloud Storage
  • Schedule and Automation
  • Technical Support is AMAZING
  • Affordable service!!!
  • Maybe the Speed can be improved. That's all in my own experience
Good for media and content creators or professionals. Especially nowadays people are becoming content creators because of social media are blowing up so fast.

I do not recommend IDrive for storing active files you want to be using consistently or each day, you want to use diff service for that because IDrive's speed is not the best.

My institution is responsible for academic management roles that consist of three different sections, are administrative, academic, and logistic divisions and it is maintaining 5000 students, and employees as long as teachers of these three different sections need to have Online Backup to Cloud for their PC's, Android phones to maintain their daily teaching, administrative and logistic activities for supporting the teaching-learning environment of the institution. And IDrive helps my institution out by fulfilling its teachers' and employees' needs without any hassle of IDrive's one account integration feature. It is being used across the whole institution and I can say it is primarily addressing the following problems:
  • Cloud storage for my institution's administrative, academic, and logistic sections respectively
  • Online backup for daily activity files of institution and teachers activity
  • Activities are done remotely.
  • Firstly, Security is the big issue for cloud storage because it gives a specific option that is known as a private key which is used for encryption and it is not difficult for anyone with a zero-knowledge cloud backup service
  • Secondly, the facility of investing a tiny amount to get huge features than other cloud storage
  • Thirdly, I will consider its Photo Backup facility that is managed by a photo manager app for any mobile device because it lets me store unlimited pictures from my mobile device without having any resolution disturbance
  • Finally, I can say it is highly reliable for its for a personal as well as a business customer
  • It is becomes painfully slow for its unlimited backup when most of the users who use it for long time even for a month. This should be improved.
  • There are not many options on the IDrive to select the "AUX" menu, I'm experiencing this problem with my newly bought second hand BMW 3 series E90 32i, 2010 model. There is not external devices alternative for me.
  • Restoring an older version of a file is the hardest stuffs for me
IDrive is well suited for the following reasons:
  • It is easy to set up Unlimited Devices/Account Via mail
  • It is possible to upload a bulk amount of data
  • Upload speed is Superfast

The app is Excellent for any mobile device, but if we consider its scenarios where it is less appropriate, I think it will be like as follows:
  • Not unlimited storage
• It has only basic sharing options

We used iDrive to back up our desktops and external hard drives. In the past, we were using only an external hard drive to back up all our drives. Unfortunately, we had one of those external hard drives crash and we lost all the data on that drive. It was unrecoverable. So, iDrive solves the problem of having an off-site backup always in the cloud.
  • Supports external hard drive backups.
  • You can support an unlimited number of devices.
  • Protects from hard drive crashes.
  • You can download your data immediately, in the event your local drives crash.
  • The used to send your backed up data overnight on a hard drive (if you needed it). Now, they only have an option to download. I love that you can download your data if you need it. That is great, but I would still love the option to ship an actual hard drive because in some cases there is too much data and downloading it all could take days.
  • The UI could use an update/refresh.
  • If you are not tech-savvy it's not super obvious how to set things up. It would be helpful for some it were simplified in some aspects.
IDrive is perfect for anyone that has stores or backups up critical, important, or sensitive data. It is great for users who may have multiple devices. For example, I have a computer in our office, a laptop in our living room, and 3 external hard drives. One only stores music, the other one stores photos and personal files, while another backs up business or official information such as my tax returns. ALL of these devices can be backed up. IDrive may not be ideal for users that have thousands of gigs of data that need to be backed up.

I tried to use iDrive to backup my PC. However, it didn't work. I went with iDrive because I could do an offline backup to start, which saved me untold hours backing up online.

When iDrive finally got around to uploading the data from the disk they provided, I found that the backup didn't work. It was running at night for 12 hours and backing up files that hadn't been changed. It almost looked like it was doing a full backup rather than incremental. I worked with their Tech Support several times and got to a Tier 2 tech who said that there were others with the same problem and he'd escalate to the "Back End" team for a resolution.

When I didn't hear back, I contacted billing for a refund. They were going to prorate the refund because "they had allocated room on the server for the data they'd uploaded." After threatening to start a dispute through my credit card company, they decided that they'd process a full refund.

  • The offline initial backup is great - if it would work.
  • The operation of their software.
  • Their tech support.
  • Their customer support.
Until they get themselves together, I can't think of a scenario where their service is well suited. But, since that's too short of a response, I'll just have to say that their product isn't well designed. It starts a backup as soon as it is installed without any schedule set. I spent a day talking to my ISP and computer tech trying to figure out why my internet was messed up. Finally, I looked at their software and discovered it was backing up all by itself.
